Solar Power in Our Schools

Sauk Prairie School District is foward thinking and being cost-effective with the installation of solar power on our school buildings. Currently the High School and Bridges Elementary have solar installed and are genertaing energy. At the High School, solar power generates enough energy to offset the power use of the full River Arts Center. At Bridges, solar power will generate half the school’s annual electricity. The District is grateful for the partnerships that have helped make solar power a reality for our schools.

High School Solar Panels Producing Power

Our District held a ribbon cutting last fall to celebrate the working solar panels on the High School roof. From October 2024 to July 2025, solar power has saved the District over $15,000 on the electric bill. Thanks to Sauk Prairie Solar Schools, local donors, and Hammond Climate Solutions for helping make this happen.

Thank you to Wisconsin Conservation Voters for creating this video highlighting the solar installation at Sauk Prairie High School.

Solar Panel Installation at Bridges Elementary

A 200KW solar array has been installed on top of Bridges Elementary. This new system will generate over half of the power the school uses each year, saving the district money and helping us reach our efficiency goals.

The new array has been paid for with a mix of grants, incentives from the power company (WPPI), community donations, district funds, and a 30% reimbursement from the federal government.
