Congratulations to all of our young writers who participated in the Young Author's Conference. Sauk Prairie was represented by 18 students from grades 3-5. These young authors from Grand Ave, Merrimac and Tower Rock had their writing selected as winning entries. Because of their winning pieces, the students earned participation in the Central Wisconsin Talented and Gifted (CWTAG) Young Author's Conference where they heard from a published author and attended writing workshops. Their work is published in an anthology of winning entries. The Young Author's Conference, held earlier this year in Westfield, featured writing from students across Central Wisconsin in the areas of poetry, narrative writing, and creative writing.

Today we wrap up our six weeks of morning summer school in the SPSD where summer fun was the theme! Some Future 4th and 5th grade students at SPMS finished up their 3-D printed sunglasses, Future 2nd Graders went for Olympic Gold and grades 4K-2 had a blast getting wet with help from the Prairie du Sac Fire Department. We are grateful for our district and community partners who helped kids learn, play, grow and enjoy summer together! #SPSD #Summerschool #togetherwesoar #PrairieduSacFireDepartment

During the afternoons of June 24 through June 28 almost 60 SPSD students participated in the Summer School Show Choir Clinic for elementary students in grades 2-5. They were joined by 31 Youth Leaders who wanted to help share their love of performing with younger students. Through the course of the afternoons, the students all learned three songs and the choreography for each one. They were able to show off their skills Friday afternoon at a standing-room-only performance in the HS Choir room. Next year the team of music teachers including Jennifer Gulsvig, Matt Brennan and Rebekah Knitt will need to look for a bigger venue for this very popular summer school offering! #togetherwesoar #SPSD #summerschool #saukprairiemusicassociation

Some Sauk Prairie Summer School students in future grades four and five are having fun while learning how to code using robots! Each week in Mrs. Judge's STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering & Math) class they build upon what they have already learned and do more complex programming with these fun and interactive devices. #togetherwesoar #SPSD #summerschool #learningisfun #STEM

We are so fortunate to have famous Oaxacan artists in our schools this week. Thanks to Armando Jimenez and Alejandro Jimenez for sharing their skillful carving and vibrant painting with our students. Check out their family’s fantastical animal sculptures called Alebrijes. Thanks to our art teachers for coordinating this and to Laurie Martin for serving as our translator.
