With more than a few days before its first post-season match, the Eagles volleyball team was surprised when some of their favorite people showed up at practice šŸ

The coaching staff had arranged for an impromptu "match" for the Eagles!

The volleyball team wants to give a big Eagle shout-out to those who came to play and for all the parental support this season!

After a first-round bye, the Eagles will be back in action with a WIAA regional match at home on Thursday, October 23.

Cross Country:
Tuesday evening the Sauk Prairie Cross Country teams traveled to Baraboo for the Thunderbird Challenge against Baraboo, Mauston, Poynette and Reedsburg. Both Eagles teams ran tough with the girls team defending their string of championships to five in a row and our boys raced exceptionally well, placing second. The boys were led by Austin Smith who finished in 5th place. The girls ran very smart and gutsy races as well to continue their streak of Thunderbird championships. The Eagles placed six runners in the top 12 and many others ran season best or PR times. The team was once again led by Clarissa Brickl who had another solid race finishing 2nd. Savannah Liegel was not far behind Clarissa to finish 3rd. (Cross Country photo is attached)

Cross Country:
Competed at the DeForest invite this past Wednesday. Here are the highlights:
Senior Jacob Wiegmann paced the Eagles with a determined run, breaking into the top 10 with another lifetime best time of 17:36.70. Wiegmann’s consistency and experience have made him a reliable frontrunner for Sauk Prairie, and his result set the tone for the rest of the squad. Right behind him was fellow senior Austin Smith, who crossed in 18:15.40 for 12th place. Smith continues to provide steady scoring for the Eagles, building off his strong senior campaign. Perhaps the biggest highlight of the day came from freshman Joshua Gregg, who clocked a personal-best 18:46.60 to place 25th overall. Gregg’s breakthrough gives Sauk Prairie another scoring option, a key factor as the season progresses. The Eagles also leaned on their depth, with seniors Hunter Brensike (18:56.40, 28th) and Carson Tucker (18:58.20, 29th, PR) finishing shoulder to shoulder. Senior Austin Pontel added another scoring punch in 37th with a 19:32.50 effort. Beyond the top group, Sauk Prairie’s depth continued to shine. Juniors Aaron Clement (20:21.40, 48th) and Drake Brensike (20:32.80, 52nd) ran solidly in the middle of the pack, while senior Alex Sibila-Ott (21:11.70, 66th) and junior Logan Sorg (21:37.60, 74th) chipped in key finishes. Several other Eagles gained valuable varsity-level experience, including seniors Micah Boerger (22:19.20), junior Caleb Gregg (22:25.70), and sophomore Tim Krasovec (23:26.80). Freshman Clay Hutchins also turned heads with a personal-record 22:52.00, showing promise for the future. Rounding out the Eagle squad was freshman Nolan Carncross (23:46.60) .

On the girls side of the race, Junior Aaliyah Bermudo led the Eagles with a strong ninth-place finish in 21:07.20, holding her own against some of the state’s top runners. Right on her heels was senior Clarissa Brickl, who crossed just three seconds later in 21:10.60 for 10th. From there, the Eagles’ pack running strategy was on full display. Junior Savannah Liegel surged to 16th in 21:41.40, while junior Evelyn Bahe secured 22nd with a 22:21.30 effort. Senior Kylie Hutchins rounded out the scoring five with a 33rd-place finish in 23:19.00. Sophomore Maya Dischler added depth in 38th (23:31.40), followed by sophomore Kjersten Hagen, who clocked a personal-best 23:45.20 for 40th. Sophomore Naomi Bermudo (42nd, 23:52.10 PR) and junior Sophia Hanson (46th, 23:59.60) also ran well, keeping Sauk Prairie competitive in the large field.
Medalists: Jacob Wiegmann (6th, Senior); Joshua Gregg (3rd, Freshman); Clarissa Brickl (4th, Senior); Aaliyah Bermudo (4th, Junior); Maya Dischler (6th, Sophomore)

The Eagles will look to build on their momentum next week as they head into River Valley’s Blackhawk Invitational. (See attached photo of medalists.)

Eagles Sweep!
Happy first day of school! Here is a recap of last week's High School activities!

Cross Country:
The Sauk Prairie cross country season kicked off in style on Saturday as the Eagles took on the Oregon Grade-Level Challenge at Lake Farm County Park. With cool temperatures, low humidity, and a fast course, conditions were tailor-made for racing — and Sauk Prairie’s runners made the most of it.

Boys Recap
The junior/senior boys set the tone early with a string of gutsy performances. Leading the charge was senior Jacob Wiegmann, who stormed to a lifetime best of 17:57, finishing 6th among seniors and 8th overall. Just a second behind came Austin Smith, crossing in 17:58 for 7th among seniors and 9th overall. Together, they gave Sauk Prairie a one-two punch up front. Rounding out the scoring group were Hunter Brensike (18:45, 16th), Austin Pontel (19:23, 26th), and a tight pack of Drake Brensike (20:01), Carson Tucker (20:05), and Aaron Clement (20:18), who finished 32nd, 33rd, and 34th. Juniors Logan Sorg (21:37) and Micah Boerger (21:40), along with senior Alex Sibila-Ott (22:13), completed the strong Eagle contingent. The hard work from the summer was evident, as every returning boy ran faster than they had a year ago. The varsity squad claimed 6th place overall. Medalists: Senior Jacob Wiegmann (6th) and senior Austin Smith (7th Senior)

Girls Recap
The Eagle girls wasted no time making a statement, dominating the junior/senior race with a blistering front pack. Senior Clarissa Brickl led the way, taking runner-up honors in 21:59.4. She was immediately followed by a trio of teammates — juniors Aaliyah Bermudo (21:59.6), Savannah Liegel (21:59.šŸ˜Ž, and Evelyn Bahe (22:03) — who swept 3rd through 5th place. Senior Kylie Hutchins capped the scoring five with a strong 9th-place finish in 22:53. Just behind, juniors Sophia Hanson (24:36) and Kenzington Kleist (24:41) ran stride-for-stride to take 16th and 17th. Juniors Lexi Sherman and newcomer Tanna Baxter rounded out the group in 39th and 40th. When the scores were tallied, Sauk Prairie’s varsity girls repeated as champions in emphatic fashion, winning the team title by over eight minutes — a landslide margin that underscored their strength. The JV girls weren’t far behind, claiming a runner-up finish. Medalists: Senior Clarissa Brickl (2nd); Junior Aaliyah Bermudo (1st); Junior Savannah Liegel (2nd); Junior Evelyn Bahe (3rd); Senior Kylie Hutchins (5th); Junior Sophia Hanson (7th); Junior Kenzington Kleist (8th); Sophomore Maya Dischler (2nd); sophomore Kjersten Hagen (4th); Freshman Jocelyn Hagen (7th); Freshman Adelaide Brensike (8th)
