Every Monday morning, four high school students visit Maplewood Assisted Living to connect and enjoy learning with the residents. It is a Monday gathering of friends that all involved look forward to.
With these learning opportunities, our HS classroom expands beyond the HS building and into the Sauk Prairie community providing wonderful growth potential for our students as they explore different fields and work with different populations. These opportunities also create lasting connections between our schools and our community.

Sauk Prairie High School is pleased to announce that Sutton Enge has been named a Finalist in the 71st Annual National Merit Scholarship Program.
Chad Harnisch, SPHS principal said, “Sutton is an exemplary student, who is dedicated, hard-working and focused, and we are fortunate at SPHS to have played a small role in his success. We look forward to what the future has in store for Sutton.”
About 1.4 million juniors at more than 22,000 high schools entered the 2025 National Merit Scholarship Program by taking the 2023 Preliminary SAT/National Merit Scholarship Qualifying Test (PSAT/NMSQT), which served as an initial screen of program entrants. The nationwide pool of Semifinalists includes the highest scoring entrants in each state. The number of Semifinalists in a state is proportional to that state’s percentage of the national total of graduating seniors.
Annually, 16,000 students are identified as semifinalists and 15,000 of those students become finalists. That is the top 1% of students nationwide. Over the coming months, scholarships will be awarded to approximately 7,000 of those finalists, representing the absolute best students in American schools.
Sutton is the son of Karmin and Greg Enge.

High School Biotechnology students visited the Madison College campus to work with a MATC instructor and demonstrate the skills they have been practicing in the class. Students enrolled in the HS Biotechnology class have the opportunity to receive dual credit through Madison College.

Ever wonder how Devils Lake was formed? Geology classes at SPHS recently made a large physical model to demonstrate how a variety of geological features were created through water, weather, and time. They manipulated the rocks, gravel, water and sand to replicate how these unique features were formed. Way to get dirty and learn!

Sauk Prairie High School is celebrating! The solar panels installed on the roof of the building are making power! The solar power will generate enough energy to offset the power use of the full River Arts Center. Thanks to Sauk Prairie Solar Schools, our local donors and Hammond Climate Solutions Foundation for helping us reach this goal.

Our new Math in the Trades class had an awesome visit today from Karli, one of the Westphal Electric team members installing the new solar panels on the SPHS roof. She took time to give a few examples of how electricians use math in their everyday work and answered great questions from our students. Thanks to Karli and Westphal for tremendous sessions today! Work in another trade? Contact us on how you can help our students learn about math in your profession. #togetherwelearn
